Darren is an award-winning entrepreneur, salt connoisseur, and the driving force behind Salts of the Earth and The Prince Edward Island Sea Salt Company. As the former CEO of the Canadian tech startup NIMtech and founder of The Prince Edward Island Sea Salt Company, Darren has a proven innovation and leadership track record.
But his path to creating Salts of the Earth wasn’t without challenges. Having faced his struggles with mental and emotional health, Darren understands the vital role that support and resources play in overcoming adversity. The loss of his friend Anna Howard, founder of Random Acts of Kindness PEI, deeply impacted him. Anna’s passing, followed by other personal losses during the pandemic due to overdose and suicide, was a turning point for Darren. These experiences ignited his mission: to positively impact one million lives.
This mission is at the heart of Salts of the Earth. Drawing on his entrepreneurial expertise and passion for helping others, Darren has created more than a business—it’s a movement for change. Through his work, he transforms lives and strengthens his community, one act of kindness at a time.
